Sotogrande -- Monuments
La Catedral de Cádiz, the place where Falla rests.
It took 116 years to complete, so the mix of styles is evident. Construction began in the Baroque style and was completed in the Neoclassic style. There are sculptural works from the old cathedral inside.
The towers and the sacristy were built last, in the 19th century. The vaults of the high altar and the choir stalls are noteworthy, although the latter are not from the cathedral. There are some very beautiful Baroque images. The church is topped with a dome of gilded brick, which gives it an impressive look. The brilliant Manuel de Falla is buried in the crypt.
Since 2003, the Torre de Poniente Tower has offered a new tourist attraction in the city. Via the ramp you can access its bell-tower, whose construction began in the 18th century, Cadiz’s golden age. From the top of the tower you can enjoy all the beauty of the city below.
