In terms of the human population, remains have been found of what is thought to be the original settlers. The Dehesa del Saler separates the lagoon, or better said the sea, with a strip of sand approximately one kilometre in length. To the south of the Park of Albufera there is another small lagoon, less known, called the Bassa de Sant Llorenç (pool of San Lorenzo), probably the result of closing a small lagoon by the same sandbank that isolated the Albufera of Valencia.
