The climate in the autonomous region of Andalusia is dominated by a Mediterranean climate.

The summers in Andalusia are very hot while the winters are short. The rainfall except in autumn is low, (less than 700mm), not counting specific areas such as Grazalema sierra, Aracena sierra, the Sierra Nevada and La Sagra massif. The climate in these areas changes depending on the altitude and proximity to the coast, where temperatures are milder than inland. The average temperatures vary between 16ºC and 18ºC and decrease at altitude.

Andalusia comprises eight provinces that include: Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Malaga, Jaen and Seville. Its political capital is Seville.

The highest institutional body of the Autonomous Region which governs the life of the people of Andalusia is the Regional Assembly of Andalusia. Article 24 of its Autonomy Statute (1981) states that it is “a political entity of self-government within an autonomous region. The Regional Assembly of Andalusia is made up of a Parliament, a Government Council and a Regional Assembly President”. The Regional Assembly of Andalusia is made up of various Ministries that include Presidency, Tourism and Sport, Economy and Treasury, Government, Justice, Public Administration, Employment and Technological Development, Institutional Relations, Public Transport, Agriculture and Fisheries, Health, Education and Science, Culture, Environment and Social Affairs.

This course is situated right in the heart of the Costa del Golf, at the foot of the Mijas mountains, in the municipality of Alhaurin El Grande from which the course takes its name. Designed by Severiano Ballesteros, the course fits the terrain like a glove and respects the natural lie of the land, so its is a very uneven course. The fairways are long and narrow which means you will need to hit an accurate drive if you don't want to end up in the water hazards or the numerous bunkers and bushes. Having said that, the level of difficulty of the course can be adapted to all levels because of the versatile nature of the tees which offer up to 6 tee-off positions. As well as the 18-hole round designed by Severiano Ballesteros, the course has another two rounds, one consisting of 18 par-3 holes and another consisting of 9 short holes.
